Advocacy

YWCA is on a mission to eliminate racism, empower women, stand up for social justice, help families and strengthen communities.

We’ve been at the forefront of the biggest issues of the day for 160 years: from voting rights to civil rights, from affordable housing to pay equity and from violence prevention to health care reform. We carry on this long tradition of social action and advocacy to advance our mission — and you are a crucial part of this work. Your voice is critical as we advocate for policies that bring us closer to eliminating racism, empowering women, and ensuring peace, justice, freedom and dignity for all.

Use your voice to help make a difference right now in our community and nationally.

YWCA Greater Cincinnati advocates for policies that directly advance our mission and vision, focusing on our three main platforms: Racial Justice & Civil Rights, Safety of Women and Girls, and Empowerment & Economic Advancement of Women & Girls.

We lead efforts for a system-wide response, providing leadership and staff support for various organizations such as the Domestic Violence Coordinating Council, Ohio Domestic Violence Network, and other local and state advocacy groups. Our initiatives include the Family Violence Advocacy Network, Immigrant Survivors of Partner Violence, and the Men on a Mission Campaign against Violence.

Priority Areas:

  • Racial Justice
Current events have exposed the vast inequities that continue to exist in our nation. Racial disparities are increasing and further dividing us. This is the most critical issue facing us today. We’re at a turning point in our nation that requires all of us to advocate for change.

  • Violence Against Women
Violence against women and girls continues to threaten the safety and well-being of our community. There has never been a more urgent time to challenge long-held policies that continue to perpetuate the cycle of abuse.

How You Can Help Advocate

If you have a passion for these issues, you can make a difference right now in our community and nationally.

STAY INFORMED

visit on our social media to access information on key issues.

Staying connected provides opportunities to make your voice heard whether it is speaking at a local city council meeting, being a part of a community conversation or event, or writing your legislators to impact policy. We all have our ‘circle of influence’ that we can expand our passion for issues by educating and engaging our friends, family, and neighborhoods through our social media outlets, church, school, and other community groups.
