Teen Dating Violence

Teen Dating Violence

YWCA Prevention Education Programs strive to prevent youth relationship violence through a school-based initiative in which a school receives training on bullying prevention, creative conflict resolution, teen dating violence prevention, and psychological/social educational groups that are targeted directly at kids at risk for unhealthy behavior. The goal of the programs is to empower schools to shift from a cultural norm that accepts bullying and teen dating violence to a norm that promotes healthy and peaceful relationships.

DID YOU KNOW?

  • 57% of teens have friends who have experienced dating violence
  • Only 33% of teens who were in an abusive relationship ever told anyone.
  • About one in five female high school students report being physically and/or sexually abused by a dating partner.
