Bullying

YWCA Prevention Education Programs strive to prevent youth relationship violence through a school-based initiative in which a school receives training on bullying prevention, creative conflict resolution, teen dating violence prevention, and psychological/social educational groups that are targeted directly for kids at risk for unhealthy behavior. The goal of the programs is to empower schools to shift from a cultural norm that accepts bullying and teen dating violence to a norm that promotes healthy and peaceful relationships.

  • Every 7 minutes, a kid is bullied.
  • 74% of LGBT students were verbally harassed in 2013.

“Red/Green Flags of Unhealthy/Healthy Relationships” were created so that youth, young mothers, older adults and service providers could review key dynamics that increase protective factors for healthy relationships and identify warning signs of unhealthy relationships. These tools are meant to begin crucial dialogues that will empower community members to experience healthy, peaceful relationships with friends, family members and partners.
