The YWCA Early Childhood Program is a support service for participants in YWCA programs, students, working families and families seeking to enhance the social, emotional, physical and cognitive development of their children. The YWCA Childcare Center provides full day childcare service, support and education for parents regarding childcare issues and child development. We also offer childcare for infants and toddlers as well as preschool services. 

 

Child Care Fees: Full Day

Infants (6 weeks-18 months) $272 per week  
Toddlers (18-35 months) $222 per week 
Preschool (3-5 years; pre-kindergarten) $192 per week  
Hours: 7:30 a.m. - 5:30 p.m. Monday through Friday  
 

In May 2006, Cincinnati Early Learning Centers (CELC) began management of the YWCA childcare program. CELC operates six award-winning preschool programs throughout Cincinnati. Since the inception of our relationship with CELC, our childcare program has earned a 5-star rating, the highest quality award by the State of Ohio.

The YWCA Childcare Center is licensed by the Ohio Department of Jobs & Family Services and the City of Cincinnati and is accredited through the National Association for the Education of Young Children. 

The State of Ohio has awarded this program a 5-star rating for meeting the quality benchmarks established by the Department of Jobs & Family Services Bureau of Child Care and Development.

 

 


 

Our Philosophy

Our center philosophy is designed to promote and enhance the social, emotional, physical and cognitive development of the children by providing developmentally appropriate learning activities and curriculum. The philosophy of our center provides a basis for the types of activities available for the children and the kind of care they will receive. Our core belief is that growth is a sequential and orderly process. We believe that each child has a personal pace and a unique way of developing in each of these growth areas. Classroom environments are designed to reflect the needs of the children at their individual developmental levels. Our curriculum is planned around the theoretical framework provided by the work of Piaget and Erikson.

The teacher’s role is to build on children’s abilities in each of the growth areas by creating a rich environment and encouraging play. Children experience creativity, achievement, disappointment, sadness, pride and joy through play. Play is the means by which children move and develop their bodies, as well as their thoughts, sight, hearing and speech. Both quiet and active play is provided at the center.

Teachers support children’s play allowing them to learn about themselves and their environment. Through play, children learn problem solving skills, social skills, and gain self-confidence in their abilities. While playing, children also discover cause and effect, improve critical thinking skills and develop languages. Play also develops readiness for academic learning. Outdoor play is part of our daily routine unless weather conditions are severe. In addition to this atmosphere of play, learning, and development, all children are served nutritious morning and afternoon snacks, as well as lunch.
