a proud history a compelling future Since 1868, the YWCA of Greater Cincinnati has been a significant leader in our community helping women to have a greater sense of their own empowerment, developing women as leaders, furthering racial justice and working to end violence against women. Every minute of every hour of every day, the vision of the YWCA’s “founding mothers” is being fulfilled through programs that empower women and their families through a combination of service and social action. We are hard at work reaching out to women who are seeking solutions to abusive situations, who are in need of literacy and job training, who want to effectively raise their children and who are seeking to take care of their bodies.

But we are only one vital element of our community and throughout our proud history we have learned that our mission cannot be furthered without significant partnerships with other non-profits, women’s organizations, foundations, religious organizations, the business community, government entities, United Way, the criminal justice system and the media. We are strong alone yet more powerful together.
For 139 years, the YWCA has provided comprehensive programs, outspoken leadership and professional expertise on the pressing issues of our times. Created by women for women, the YWCA has a proud and pioneering history. We have pledged all of our resources, talents and skills to ensure a compelling future of the mission of the YWCA – eliminating racism and empowering women.
